Things to note in building Large Rabbit Cages
For all those who are interested in rearing rabbits, one of the things you can never do away with is the rabbit cages. This is where the rabbits would be residing day and night. The size of these cages would however be dependent on the size of the rabbits you choose to rear. Some like to use small rabbit cages. But for those who want to offer their animals a lot more space which they can play in, there is the need to make use of the large rabbit cages. There are some crucial things to note about the making of these large rabbit cages.
One of the most important things to note about the large rabbit cages is the provision of adequate air circulation. This is because it is directly linked to the health status of your rabbit. You can easily increase the regulation of air in your rabbit cage with the installation of a quiet fan. When there is proper ventilation in the large rabbit cages, it would remain safe from the development of mildew. In order to also get rid of any form of mildew in the cages, you would have to properly wash the walls with the use of water and bleach.
When it comes to the floor wire of the large rabbit cages, it should be in a ˝ inch by 1 inch grid pattern. Indeed this size is large enough to be able to allow for any droppings to fall out of the cage while also giving it enough support for their feet. The walls of the cage can be done in 1 inch by 2 inch wire. What this does is to allow for easy spacing for water feeders and bottles but still keep it safe from predators. You would have to put babysaver wire on your doe’s cage if you are going to be raising litters.
The large rabbit cages should also be built in such a way that it is free from any electrical connections. The electricity wirings must be carefully located in areas where the rabbits cannot reach at all. This is because sometimes the rabbits especially the large ones can be quite intrusive. If there are going to be any kind of electrical wirings through the cage, it should always be adequately covered in order not to cause any problems. This way you would be ensuring the safety of your rabbits.
